Let’s face it. We all go through lulls in motivation. There are times of year where you’re super motivated. You’re eating right and hitting the gym 5 days per week. Then there are other times where the last thing you want to do is workout or stick to a routine.
Maybe you’re feeling flat and just not wanting to make progress like you used to. So what should you do?
Whenever you are feeling this way it’s imperative that you gain some clarity. It’s a great time to lean on your coaches. We’ve all been there countless times and can serve as guideposts for you to get “unstuck”.
What I have found time and time again that gets people out of a rut as quickly as possible is a short term challenge. The reason being, when we feel flat and like not taking action, it’s usually because we are either bored or overwhelmed in some facet of our lives. Creating a short term meaningful challenge can reinvigorate that spark.
In some cases this may look like a 30 day nutrition challenge, or a month long gym “sit-up” challenge. This could be as simple as committing to walking 10,000 steps everyday. The key here is not to add too much. It’s actually better to just pick 1 thing. Adding too much change at once can lead to overwhelm and become counterproductive.
As an added bonus doing said challenge with a friend, spouse or co worker to serve as an accountability partner has massive upside. Leaning on each other when someone’s motivation wanes is exactly what will keep you going.
So what one thing in your life, if you added it right now would not only challenge your health and fitness but also keep you motivated? This is exactly what you need to choose. It’s not easy for the vast majority of us to pinpoint said target. That’s why it’s crucial to lean on trusted professionals.
This is precisely why at Westchester Fit we push our clients to sit down with us every 90 days to discuss their goals. It gives them clarity on 1-2 things they need to do. It provides a sense of urgency to get those things done before the next check in. Most importantly it provides an opportunity to seek additional help if needed.
Goal setting consults are not just a sales pitch. They are intended to get you unstuck, give you some clarity on the next thing to do and keep you focused. Click the link here to chat with us today.
