1. When did you start CrossFit and why?

I started at CrossFit Bayside in 2013. I had just finished my recovery from a major ankle surgery and was member of a typical “meathead” gym trying to get back in shape. I hated the type of people that were at my gym and I found myself leaving mid workouts because I didn’t want to be there. So one of my friends had suggested CrossFit and I googled the closest one, tried it out, and loved it.

2. What time of day do you normally come in?

I typically come in at 6pm.

3. What is one movement you hate and one you love?

I hate the assault bike with every essence of my being. I love anything that involves body weight movements but if I had to pick one I would say pull-ups are my movement.

4. Any big goal(s) set for the next year?

My goals this year regarding my fitness are to continue to keep my endurance up but more importantly to improve my technique when it comes to Olympic lifting.

5. Tell us one fun fact about you.

A fun fact about me is that I met my wife on a plane ride to Nashville. I was going for a wedding (where I was a groomsman) and she was going for work. She chose her seat next to me because it was Southwest Airlines and I ended up asking her to go to the wedding with me. She ended up saying yes and had to meet all my family and friends on our first date.

6. You were left on a deserted island. What one food and thing (i.e. book, music player, etc…) would you want to be left with?

Food would be my mother’s sauce (loaded with meatballs, sausage, and bragioli). As for item, probably a sketch pad and drawing materials. I like to draw and it would help keep me sane.

7. How has CrossFit helped you in sports? Life?

CrossFit has improved my performance significantly. Not only am I stronger and my endurance is ten times what it was before I started, but my mentality has changed both in life and in CrossFit. CrossFit has allowed me to realize that I can do things I never thought I’d be able to. It gives me the ability to dig deep and go into that suffer zone and know that I can get through anything.

8. How have workouts changed for you over the years?

Over the years the workouts for me have become much more strategic. I used to just do the workout full force and see how it went. Now I know my body and how to pace workouts to give me the best results.
